I truly believe that positive energy attracts positive energy. When the sun is shining, how does that make you feel? When someone smiles at you, do you smile in return? When you are watching your favorite comedy, do you laugh out loud? We all have the choice to 'wake up on the right side of the bed' every morning, and 'set the tone' (choose the mood) for the day that lies ahead. Remember, we always have a choice as to how we feel, what we want out of life, who we associate with, etc. If the choice you are trying to make doesn't have a simple yes or no answer, is it a choice worth making? Food for thought.
I had the great fortune to hear Charles Poliquin speak at a conference in Toronto yesterday. For those of you who are not familiar with Poliquin, he is hailed as one of the world's premier strength coaches, who has successfully trained professional athletes and Olympians worldwide. Check out his website for more detailed info about this man.... www.charlespoliquin.com . I could go on for hours about how inspiring it was to hear him speak, but I will leave it up to you to pick up one of his books if this so interests you. However, I do want to share with you a very clever idea that Poliquin uses with his clients to help them get into a positive frame of mind EVERY SINGLE DAY, whether they are training or not. I am going to start doing this myself, because I believe it will help me: 1) learn more about myself every single day, and 2) teach me how to become more disciplined at focusing on the good in all living things.
What is his idea? Well, he has created what is called 'The Grateful Log". Now, most of you are probably familiar with 'food journals' or 'health journals' or 'accounting journals', etc. The 'Grateful Log' works along those same principles, except instead of writing down everything you eat, or everything you feel, or all the debits and credits in your financial statement, you are writing down EVERYTHING you are grateful for. You are only jotting down positive statements, comments, thoughts. NOTHING negative. The purpose of the 'Grateful Log' is to take away all guilt. Guilt causes anxiety, stress, negativity. By focusing only on the positives in our lives, the anxiety, stress, negativity dissappears, thus creating a healthier, happier, WHOLE you. AND the most important aspect of keeping this 'Grateful Log' is that you are to write in this log BEFORE you go to bed each night. Going to bed on a positive note will increase the quality of your sleep, so that you can wake up refreshed and revitalized the next morning, which in turn will 'set the mood' for your entire day. So why not start writing in your very own 'Grateful Log' tonight, and focus on what really REALLY matters to you.
Moral of today's blog? Positive energy = Positive attitude.
Be Healthy. Be Happy. Be Whole.
